Please consider purchasing items for our 3rd Grade Eagle Bucks Store. It opens at the end of each quarter and is something students really look forward to. We have provided all of the items for our first "shopping spree" including some raffle items and are excited for students to be able to use their Eagle Bucks to reward themselves.
Fall Field Trip - Monday, Nov. 3rd
Student attire:
Students must wear a RCS polo of any color. They can either wear a pair of jeans (no rips please) or their khaki uniform bottoms (pants, shorts, skirts).
Students must bring:
one water bottle
one snack labeled with name for the bus ride home
one picnic style lunch in a paper bag or gallon sized bag labeled with name (see picture for example)
We will provide:
coolers for lunches
box to hold snacks
student tickets
NO BACKPACKS PLEASE!!!!!
If you are planning to join us on the field trip, please meet us there at 10am. (parents can buy their own food or bring their own lunches of course)

Math Focus: Multiplication Facts
Overview: Students will be taking their Chapter 4 test on Tuesday! A study guide went home on Friday for extra credit. On Wednesday, we will begin Chapter 5 and will be exploring patterns used to know our multiplication facts. In 3rd grade, our big goal is to make sure all students know their multiplication facts by the end of the year! Practicing their math facts regularly at home is encouraged. This could be simply asking them some of their facts in the car!
Multiplication Facts Focus: 6's - Practice worksheet in Moose! Check out our skip counting song below!
Math at Home: IXL and Prodigy are both good resources for extra practice at home that your child can use! Students have log-in's in their Moose.

Overview: The student will identify everyday examples of light, sound, and thermal energy, understanding that all energy comes from God and was created by Him.
Family Chats: Have students point out examples of sound, light, and thermal energy being used in everyday life!

Overview: Students will be learning about the strengths and weaknesses of democracy in America and understand that the powers that be are ordained by God.

Spelling Focus: 2.4 Closed Syllables
Students will spend 15 minutes per day learning about and practicing spelling patterns/rules to ensure mastery.
Spelling List: campus, common, continent, custom, disrupt, fantastic, flannel, frantic, hundred, magnetic, pencil, problematic, publish, splendid, submit
Homework: Study words for Friday's test. Spelling Practice Homework front & back due Wednesday 11/5
Pre Tests are on Thursdays. (students who score a 100 will select a fun silent activity during the test on Friday)

Reading Focus: Informational Texts cont.
Students will spend 35 min per day gaining comprehension and analysis skills for all genres of literature.
Focus: Preview a text, text features, text structure (problem/solution, cause/effect, description, chronological, compare/contrast), main idea (central idea) and key details (supporting evidence) author's purpose
Homework: Independent Reading/Library Challenge: students should read out loud for 10 minutes each night and focus on their "narrator voice". (Their sentences should flow and they should start to put emphasis and feeling into their reading just like we do in conversations.)

Cursive Focus: Words & Sentence Practice
Students will spend 10 min per day learning and practicing their cursive skills.
Focus: Improving the "not to fast and not to slow flow" of writing incursive with words and sentences.

Grammar Focus: 2.1 Common and Proper Nouns
Students will spend about 15 minutes per day focusing on a specific grammar rule to apply throughout their writings.
Focus: Students will identify, explain, and use a variety of grammar rules in their writing

Students will spend 35 minutes per day mastering multiple writing styles and techniques.
Focus: We will practice multiple ways to summarize and retell an informational text

Students will spend 30 minutes per day diving into God's Word to grow their understanding of scripture, who we are in Christ, and how we can walk in faith daily.
